Believing in the Endless Possibilities of Life by Breanna Bolliger

The thought that always approaches my mind is “what will the next chapter of my life look like after university?” Over the course of my life this has always been unknown that I am always interested and prompted to understand.

But, what most of us tend to forget that the present day is far more important than the future ahead of us. More importantly, life is a long journey with many obstacles and turns that are unpredicted. So, even if we have a plan out what our life is going to look like there are still many endless possibilities.

Most people feel better off planning their life in advance and want things to progress in a certain manner. But sometimes we just need to look at the bigger picture. Life could potentially lead us down another path, allowing other doors of opportunity to arise, that may benefit us.

Benefit #1 - New Opportunities may arise

Sometimes when we go outside our comfort zone and try something new we can approach and spark new interests. For me personally, in my first year of studies, I decided to take part in being an event volunteer for an organization called Motionball. This volunteer opportunity was such an impactful experience as I was able to celebrate and support Special Olympic athletes. Being apart of this amazing opportunity experiencing the positive environment that is focused on embracing our differences has prompted me to continue to take part in this event as well as other events that relate to helping other in need. Sometimes when you take part in those smaller moments in life, those moments can resonate with you allowing you to shape new interests that you may have never anticipated.

Benefit #2 – Allows you to keep an open kind.

Many of us who approach university have a pretty good indication about what our dream job is. There is no problem with this, but when we have your heart set on this job, this may be impacting us from seeking out other interests and other job occupations that we may not have encountered before. On a personal note, I have a dream of helping others, taking part in a medical related profession. But to be completely honest, there are so many occupations related to the medical field to choose from. As I progress through my undergrad, I will continue to keep an open mind as there could be many opportunities from shadowing medical professions, partaking in research that may also spark new interests that may change my life forever. Altogether, there many benefits to believing in the endless possibilities in life. It begins with a positive, open mind set and the belief that you can accomplish anything in the world.

Stay bold and unique everyone!

Breanna
