Creating a Morning Routine by Beata Fourmanovskis

The start of your day will determine how your entire day will go. So, it is important to build good habits and incorporate a routine in the morning so you can set yourself off for a successful and productive day. Before developing a morning routine, it is important you get the recommended seven to nine hours a day, so you feel recharged and can start your day. Here are a few suggestions you can incorporate into your morning to ensure you have an amazing day:

  1. Jump out of your bed and then make your bed.

Once you are awake after a good night’s rest, make sure to jump right out of bed. Do this as fast as possible so that you are not tempted to snooze more in your bed. Once you are up and awake, make your bed first thing in the morning. If you make your bed first thing in the morning, you would have accomplished your first task and that will encourage you to do another task and another task. Even if you decide to have a lazy day and watch Netflix all day, at the end of the day, you will end up in a bed that you’ve already made.

  1. Drink two cups of water.

Everyday, you are required to drink at least eight cups of water every day to stay healthy. You slept eight hours and had to fast so break your fast by drinking two cups of water when you wake up to hydrate yourself and keep yourself healthy.

  1. Get active by engaging in some fitness.

Wake up your mind and body by engaging in a physical activity such as going for a walk, doing some yoga, or try a high intensity interval workout (HITT) workout in the morning. This is a great way to get your physical activity for the day and by doing it in the morning, you can have the rest of the day to relax and engage in other activities. With the summer weather approaching, I recommend doing a morning walk for 20 to 30 minutes outside that way you can get your heart up, get yourself moving, and get some Vitamin D.

  1. Read a physical book or read from an e-reader.

My phone and computer are off in the morning, so I like to start my day with some reading. You can choose any book to read and just read for about 20 to 30 minutes every day. I like to read self-help books in the morning so I can learn to be more productive and successful. Reading allows you to get lost in a new world and might teach you a new thing or lesson for the day. In addition, I make myself a cup of coffee while I am reading. It is honestly the best part of my day where I am reading quietly, enjoying a hot cup of coffee before starting my work/school day.

  1. Make a to-do list.

The morning is a great time to plan out your day. Choose three tasks to accomplish and write them down. If it helps, make a schedule for the day with what you plan to work on as well as breaks. For example, pencil in an hour of your meals and make time for hobbies such as a dance class or meeting up with a friend to play basketball. This will keep you organized and ensure you finish your day by accomplishing everything you need to get done.

I hope these five tips help you establish a great morning routine and ensure you have a successful and productive day. Feel free to incorporate as many tips as you find useful. Some people find that making a to-do list the night before is better than doing it in the morning. Either way, ensure you incorporate the morning habits you need to make your day a great day.
